We are seeking an experienced Product Marketing Manager, ideally with a software background, to undertake market assessment, assist with definition of a suitable service offering, draft a high-level business plan and propose the go-to-market strategy for a Cloud/SaaS based Software Asset Management solution.
We are advising a client on relaunching a business that had previously developed a stand alone IT Asset Management System, comprising Discovery and Governance modules and which is now being considered for porting to a SaaS/Cloud services environment.
The service identifies all hardware, software and users in an organisation and stores the data in a server CMDB database. In addition, software discovered can be compared to licenses purchased to allow easy software licensing audits. The service has been developed over several years with a very significant amount of investment before the development was stopped due to lack of funds.
The current service is based on enterprise class Java on an open platform Apache Tomcat with open source implementation of Java Servlet, JavaServer pages and PostgreSQL database. The discovery modules are cross platform and send asset identification information to the database in XML and then to a Jasper report engine.
This project comprises :
1. Market review of other competitive SaaS Software Asset Management (SAM) systems on the market
2. Identification of other (possibly free) IT asset discovery tools that may be suitable for use with the new SaaS SAM service.
3. Determination of the preferred feature set of a SaaS implementation of the service
4. Assessment of how much time, resource and cost would be required to port the current service to a new SaaS environment (with the assistance of a software technical specialist)
5. Documentation of the above in a Marketing Requirements Document and project report to include : Market Problems, Competitive Landscape, Distribution Strategy, Product Portfolio, Product Roadmap, Business Plan, Pricing, Product Profitability, Positioning, Buying Process, Buyer & User Profile, Usage Scenarios, Sales & Marketing Plan, Customer Acquisition, Presentations & Demo recommendations
This project will commence immediately and will initially last 2 months.
This is a part-time position requiring possibly up to 10 hours per week (to be determined) for up to 8 weeks.
