Description
Experience Level: Expert
Spring framework:
Using the provided Ubuntu Linux template (named “Elder” on the IMS), create a development environment. Install:
• Java 1.8
• Git
• Curl
Alongside these, install a chosen IDE or editor. IntelliJ is recommended as a fully featured IDE. Atom is recommended as a text editor.
create a account on GitHub.com.
Requirement 1
Configure a development environment as above. Install and configure Maven. Install and run a simple Spring application, for example “spring-boot” from the projects on Spring.io.
Requirement 2
Using the guide provided, develop a simple application that implements a RESTful interface to a data store. The application should take HTTP requests from the command line, and should respond with JSON formatted data. The data store should be persistent.
Requirement 3
Run the serving-web-content tutorial from Spring.io. Using the provided template application and guide, extend the application to have a Web-based interface. The application should contain examples of all "CRUD" operations. Add at least two advanced features to the CRUD application. Such features might include forms with validation, automated testing, background scheduled tasks, or replacing the database with a NoSQL database. (Guides on all of these are available at Spring.io)
