Description
Experience Level: Expert
Issue with website speed of processing and crashing as items load into cart.
We have taken a theme from Shopify and then customized and added a multi variant ordering form instead of the themes normal fields.
This is creating the slow processing , line by line and re-looping and taking longer to re-loop as the cart get bigger.
The store has been linked in with Bold's detailed pricing app, where each customer is assigned a tag which defines their pricing group out of 2 choices.
This has worked well enough over the last 2 years but now for reasons unknown, the processing of the website is very slow and becomes extremely slow with the more items that are added to the cart, until eventually it cant process any more and it crashes. Basically trying to stitch together the shopify theme, with a customised variant form, running through Bold apps, is creating a bottleneck problem for the website. I need some one to diagnose the exact problem and come up with a solution.
The explaination I get from Bold apps is
“On the product page, the add process for multi-variant forms like you have on your pages, takes place in the background of the page. What this means is that while it looks like your page is 'loading' what is happening is the products are getting added to the cart by line item. With so many line items (each variant is a line item) the cart page takes a long time to render/add them all correctly.”
However, as I understand this logic, the website has become unfit for purpose in its slowness, and requires a solution.
Bold apps says this doesn’t have anything to do with their app, and my theme developer says it is out of their scope.
What I am looking for is someone to test my website, have a fundamental understanding of what is wrong with the processing of the variants, how this can be fixed, with the result being a website, that is running quicker, can carry the items and variants in the cart without the site slowing down,
I think that in order to understand my meaning you may need to register as a customer and then login, add variants to the cart and see the process take place.
The project will be broken down into 2 parts.
The first budget/ quote is to identify the issue in the code and come up with an approach to fix it.
Once you establish this - you will send me a price quote and detailing how you will fix it .
The website is www.makauri.co.uk
Look forward to your replies
