Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: We are a discount / voucher website
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of every page/module: Please see the extra notes for a full descripion of the search implementation that we require
Description of requirements/features: Getting the built in search function of the website configured and working.
Extra notes: I have developed a website (www.topvouchercodes.co.uk) using the following template which is built on the semantic UI framework:
http://demos.smooththemes.com/html/WP-Coupon-HTML/
The search on the website uses ajax and json however it seems to have been configured to give the impression of search working for the purpose of showcasing the template and needs re configuring so that it actually performs the search on the results.
I have configured a test page here with the search box in situ.
http://topvouchercodes.co.uk/browse/indextest.php
Search appears to use the following files:
/assets/includes/test-top-right-search.php
Results driven by json in /server/ajax.php
Search function lives in /assets/js/global.js
I'd like the intended action to be a max 5 results related to the search query with a view all results link at the bottom.
I can generate the json file but for testing easy enough to use one with only a few results.
In the JSON file will include the brand name and the number of vouchers and the category plus sub category and click volume like so:
partner: BT
Vouchers: 5
category: Digital TV, Broadband & Phone
sub-category: Broadband
Clicks: 150
Featured: 2 (1 no, 2 yes)
I'd like the search to be able to look through the three text fields and rank the results by featured at the top ordered by click volume (highest first) and then as a secondary action the non featured ordered by click volume (highest first).
Although as a starting point perhaps just a text based search on the brand name showing up to 5 results would work. Especially if it used autocomplete.
Can you see what both ways would work out at?
happy to give ftp access if you want to take a look but as part of the deliverable I would like to know what changes you have made to the files so that I do not undo them later.
I will set this upon a sub domain rather than have you work on the live site.
