Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: We sell our pub merchandise through our online shop and want to provide info re our frequently changing ales.
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Description of requirements/features: Our site www.theravenofbath.co.uk was initially built using Wordpress + Shopify Buy Button. It has recently been turned into a fully blown Shopify site but needs some tweaks and updates. We also want to integrate Untappd.com with our home page so that we can display our ever-changing ales on our home page as and when they are updated on Untappd.com. This apparently might need someone to build an app for it, although I thought it was just a case of integrating code.
Following is a full list of all the things that need to be done (not in order of importance):
1. Check the mailing list is set up correctly with Mailchimp.
2. Set up and integrate Google Analytics with Shopify.
3. Add code to site’s homepage so that we can be verified with the Google Merchant Centre.
4. The contact form (at the bottom of home page and on contact page) should be going to the email address enquiries@theravenofbath.co.uk (not to sales@).
5. Make sure all orders we receive from the online shop are going to sales@theravenofbath.co.uk.
6. Change our favicon to the little black raven at the bottom of each page on the site.
7. Check why the images on the site sometimes load really slowly (particularly in the bottom carousel section of the Drink page).
8. On the home page in the section ‘Tim’s Bike Interview’, we are meant to be able to change this section on a regular basis so sometimes it might just be an image with some accompanying text or it could be a video. Is it currently set up this way or can it only take a video?
9. If I go into a product e.g. Raven’s Gold, on the right hand side under Visibility the Shopify buy button and the Shopify online store are both ticked as being visible. What’s the difference between these two and do we need them both? Are we still paying for the buy button as well as the online store?
10. Why does it say The Raven of Bath underneath each product name on the individual product pages? This needs to be removed as it makes checkout look a bit messy.
11. On the home page where it says Now on Tap, this started out as being our ‘real ale database’ which we linked up to the applet IFTTT so that every time we updated the database page (in Wordpress) it would automatically post on Facebook and Twitter for us that we’d got a new beer on tap. The idea was to have ‘On Tap Now,’ ‘Coming Soon’ and ‘Previously on Tap’, so you could see on the home page what was on tap now and coming soon, but you could also click on a gallery like database showcasing all the ales we’d previously had on tap. We then signed up to Untappd which does a similar thing and is easier to use, but we need to put some code generated by Untappd into our website. The site has since been turned into a fully blown Shopify site and they have said that an app needs to be built. I’m not sure what is needed but we do want to integrate Untappd.com with our site somehow.
12. With the pages in the online store it seems all the ales on the site have been included as separate pages, which I don’t think they should be. They need to be part of the ale database we were starting to create - otherwise it’s going to get really messy as new beers are added and we won’t be able to find the main basic navigation items on the menu such as Food, Drink etc. How can we clean this up?
13. Add to the checkout process the question ‘where did you hear about us from’ and add a few options e.g. online, word of mouth etc. Is this possible?
When I look at the
14. We will need to be adding some new pages that will need to do certain things but I think this will need to be in a separate email.
This job is being posted by Becky (who works with Rod). I need to get things started on this asap, so look forward to hearing from you!
