Experience Level: Expert
General information for the website: It is an ecommerce website selling home accessories and gifts
Description of requirements/features: I have a relatively small e-commerce website www.urbancuckoo.co.uk. It has been built using MODX and now needs a few things updated. My web developer is currently unable to take on more work but is happy to liaise and give any necessary access details. I am looking to find someone reliable and who I can call on whenever I need something updated or fixed. I don't have a huge budget so I am looking for someone who will give me a fair, competitive cost and only charge the time that they think it will take.

I would like a price per item so I can decide what I can afford to do. However, can you also give me an overall price for the whole project.

1. Making the site mobile friendly. According to my SEO person, Google is paying closer and closer attention to how mobile friendly website are and is giving people warning about it and it may not rank the site on mobile if it is unfriendly. When you use this tool https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/ you will see the errors that come up for Urban Cuckoo. Urban Cuckoo currently does not have a mobile site and users have to navigate the desktop site on their phone or tablet, can you give me a cost for making the site mobile friendly.

2. Adding Pinterest, Twitter and Google+ link buttons to UC homepage next to the current Facebook link.

3. At the moment when a product goes out of stock I unpublished it. However if someone clicks on it from a previous saved link such as Google+, an e-newsletter, Facebook or a bookmark then they will get a 404 Error. It would be much better if this could redirect to a different page i.e., the UC homepage or the department page that it was in so people are still landing on UC rather than getting the Error and not being directed to the site.

4. Also when a product goes out of stock. I have to unpublished it so people can't but something that I don't have. This is fine for products that I am discontinuing although a redirect as per point 3 would be good. However for products that I plan to restock in the near future, it would be good to keep them on the site so people can see we stock them, but just have a temporary way of letting people know they are out of stock and preventing them from ordering until I have a new delivery?

5. I think that our logging-in process trips a lot of people up at the start and prevents them from continuing with an order. The ordering process needs to be easier and I think it needs a Guest login. So many people have problems with their username and password so if they could continue without these I think it might make a big difference.

6. Site refresh - I am thinking of freshening up the look of site up and might change from taupes colours to greys. I think that this can be done fairly easily by changing the 4 background images (the wallpaper images) used on the site, removing or replacing the birdcage and stag images on the two versions of product category pages and changing the two main colours used throughout the site. I might also change the elaborate frames to the plain rounded lozenge shapes currently used on the product category pages.

7. I also might like to add a large scrolling image box at the top of the homepage which can scroll through up to 4 images so we could promote 4 messages at a time.

Also, if you have any other suggestions on how to improve the user experience on the site or give a more a responsive layout then I'd be interested to hear your thoughts!

Any questions or queries, please give me a shout.

Many thanks
