Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
General information for the website: The website will list details of cars that are available for sale
Description of requirements/features: We're building a Wordpress site for a new client website build and we need a custom database creating to alert user of the site who are searching for a certain type of car (if it's not available on the site) to notify them once a car comes back in stock.
This is an overview of what would happen:
1. Customers can view, fill out, and submit the form (supplying their name, email, phone number, and specifying what car make they would like as well as the price range they are looking to spend)
2. The form data is stored somewhere for future use.
3. When a new car is added to the site (this can be done in any way that suits the functionality, entirely up to the developer) the site needs to automatically look through all of the request form entries to find ones that have requested the same make and price as the newly listed car.
4. If a match is found the customer is emailed automatically
So, as an example the process from start to finish would be:
1. We design and build the site (not the developer)
2. The feature we're quoting for here is then added.
3. Our client adds all of the cars he currently has in stock to his website.
4. A customer visits the site looking to buy a BMW for between £5'000 and £10'000. (for example)
5. There are no BMWs on the site for that price.
6. The customer navigates to the request form and fills it out supplying their name, email address, phone number, specifying that they would like a BMW for between £5'000 and £10'000.
7. Our client is traded or buys a BMW which he would like to sell for £8'000.
8. Our client adds the BMW to his site.
9. The site checks though submitted form data to find anyone who has asked for a BMW and given an appropriate price range - the example customer has selected £5'000 to £10'000 and our client wants to sell for £8'000 so this is a match
10. A match will be found from the customer in step 6 (as well as any others that have asked for a BMW and supplied an appropriate price range), that customer will be emailed automatically with a link to the page (or post or similar) that has been created for the car.
Important:
Summary: When a new custom post is published, subscribers will be automatically emailed depending on their filter criteria.
Functionality:
- There will be a form on the website that users can fill out to subscribe. It will contain filters based on Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) fields in the custom post. It will contain a honeypot of captcha field to prevent spam.
- On form submit, the subscriber details will be stored in a custom database in the backend, and an email will be sent to the subscriber asking them to confirm their subscription. Confirmation will involve clicking a link to set a 'confirmed' flag in the custom database to true.
- On the publishing of a new post the database will be queried and a templated html email will be sent out to all subscribers who are 'confirmed' and where the filter criteria is matched.
- The email will contain an unsubscribe link, which will allow users to set their 'confirmed' flag to false.
Extra services needed: Installation
Extra notes: If anything here isn't clear, please ask any questions you need to fulfil a proposal.
