Description

Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: Driving lesson booking system
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Description of requirements/features: I have a Driving School that has an internal networked booking system (written in foxpro) that maintains Instructor Diaries and enables staff to book/cancel/rearrange lessons for pupils. (+ maintains pupil accounts, etc.etc)

I now need to develop a web site that can access that data. (and will eventually replace the ageing Foxpro system)
There will be several development stages:

1- Display Diaries and each days bookings - for Instructors so they can see their teaching schedule (using tablet/iphone/laptop)
2- Enabling Instructors to be able to book/cancel/rearrange lessons
3- Enabling pupils to be able to see their bookings and allowing them to book/change lessons/make payments etc.
A key requirement is that any development will have to be able to interface directly to the existing Foxpro data tables.

Unless anyone can think of a better idea I currently plan to use the Westwind web connection software to enable access to the data

So this post is for a web site that each Instructor can log into that will display his diary as a grid of days and booking times - showing a 6 character cell for each time. That cell contains a Postcode if the period is booked - will be clear if it available to book - or will be greyed out if unavailable.
The data files are:
"Diary" - one record for each Instructor/Day - includes one field for each booking "cell" that will include Postcode if booked
"Booking" one record for each booking (Instructor/Date/Time period) with detail of pupil booked, pickup etc
"Pupil" one record per pupil
On click of a cell to display a popup with the booking detail (pickup address, time, pupil history)
