Description
Experience Level: Expert
The brief is to design and develop a socially driven support community. The
community will deal with sensitive subjects such as Domestic Abuse and
Debt amongst others. Users will be able to generate an account and a profile
on the website and subsequently interact in member-based discussion
groups based on subject.
The community must include status updates similar to Twitter and Facebook
in real-time. The website must look slick, therefore, it is suggested that we
use Javascript, AJAX and XML to generate simple but sleek animation of
menus and interactive elements.
The website will be database driven (MYSQL) and so a database will need to
be installed, populated, secured and maintained.
As with any community website, it must be inherently secure and should use
standard encryption methodologies and good practise. There will be live
filters and search options to enable seamless and easy use of the website.
Messages will also be able to be exchanged between accounts and profiles.
In this way, I suggest we heavily customise a community driven PHP script
that is fast, versatile and easy to manage.
I also suggest that it should be made easy for the administrator of the
website to moderate content, delete / add details and block members by IP
address and/or user name. Many community driven websites suffer from
SPAM and malicious activity and so the appropriate security procedures will
need to be implemented and detailed
