Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am looking to extend my property at ground floor level. This involves removing a corner of the house - half a side and half the adjoining rear wall. The easy solution is to have a supporting column positioned at the corner point to support the two storey structure above. However the column would be in the middle of the new space and is not ideal. I would like to know how big the steels would need to be to span the 8 metre gap, and support the structure above. Ceiling height is 3.2m. What are my options likely to be? The property is Victorian and walls are 9inch solid brick.
