Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Kitchen fitter/project manager required.
I have placed this ad under carpentry because that is the main job needed but ideally I would like a carpenter who can source the other trades needed for the complete project and arrange for them to turn up as required.
Our current kitchen was installed in the 1970s and we are looking to replace and enlarge it. (The new kitchen space is made up three separate areas which we refer to as kitchen, snug and dining room. We don't have a vast amount of money to spend so the chances are that the new kitchen (not yet ordered) will come from IKEA/Wickes or similar- or perhaps Howdens if prices match. As I work from home, I will be on site to order materials or make decisions but I am after someone who can manage the whole project as seamlessly as possible and with minimal disruption. In addition to the work mentioned below, we are also looking to refurbish/re-enamel our AGA and there is some more complex plumbing work than what is outlined below.
(Posted separately as job number 12994)
Scope of Kitchen replacement work for which we seek quotes is as follows:
1. Removal of old kitchen (leaving sink connected and usable until new kitchen is installed).
2. Re-hanging/re-fitting of some of the old kitchen units elsewhere in the house
3. Removal of old tiles (two walls and chimney alcove are tiled).
4. First fixing of electric lighting (total of 15 ceiling down-lighters plus under cabinet down-lighters) and wiring for new appliances in kitchen and snug
5. Plastering of kitchen ceiling (and any other areas that need to be made good)
6. Installation of water softener and plumbing (including external drainpipe) for second sink in snug area
7. Removal of laminated floor from kitchen and snug. (Snug has a concrete floor underneath and a cable is in place for under-floor heating to be installed once kitchen is in place.)
8. Installation of kitchen in snug area and cupboards in dining room. (This will involve cutting work surfaces around some wooden beams)
9. Installation of kitchen in old kitchen
10. Plumbing and electrics to be finalized including under-floor heating
11. Tiling floor of snug and wall areas
12. Flooring in main kitchen (probably real wood floor)
I will be getting ballpark installation costs from IKEA/Wickes for comparison with any quotes that I get from this site although I appreciate that these only cover items 7-9 or 10. All work will require full guarantee and certification. References will be taken.
We have an account at Ridgeons and I can order all parts and materials that are required.
We are looking to start the works in the New Year.
