Description

Experience Level: Expert
Hola,

Ok, that's the extent of my Spanish; that's why I need some help - or rather my client does.

My client is a the UK's leading manufacturer and direct seller of industrial flooring and related products, I work with them as a business consultant.

A growing company, they have just opened an office in Barcelona, from where they will sell goods all over Spain. Currently they have one over-worked general manager there and, although he is a native Spanish speaker, he simply doesn't have the time to complete this project himself.

The brief is this:

The company sells products from its website. As some of these items are quite technical, the company produces short videos on how to use them (maximum length is a couple of minutes each one) which are displayed on their website. These have all been shot in the UK and are in English. They show how to use different products, such as their bestselling concrete repair mortar or a crack filler for asphalt.

We need someone to transate these into Spanish. There are only 11 videos and the total amount of words is only about 800.

Some of the words are a bit technical - aggregate (as in grit), epoxy (which may be the same in Spanish for all I know) or mortar (which I think might be mortero!). However, most of them aren't.

I can always help out with explaining what the products do if that helps and the general manager in Spain can assess the total translation.

They need this urgently as they want to go live with the website as soon as possible.

In terms of a fee, I can't believe the whole project would take a competent translator more than three or four hours (though that is a guess) so that will be your hourly rate x 3 or 4, I suppose (plus some time for amendments from our man in Barcelona). However, your ability to complete this task quickly is the most important factor (apart from being able to translate English into Spanish of course).

There is the distinct possibility of more work as further videos will be needed.

Many thanks for reading this far.

Phil
