Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We want you to identify pre-defined messages (keywords) that appear in media items. We do not operate on strict word recognition, but need you to interpret text that indicates the appearance of a message. For example, the message we are looking for may be ‘Interior decoration’. You see ‘wallpaper’ in the item – although not the specific message, wallpaper is, of course, a form of interior decoration, so you would record interior decoration as having appeared in the item. Got the idea?
We will send you a list of the messages we want you to look for, tell you where the text/audio is to be found (or send you the text/audio direct) and send you an excel sheet to complete. We need you to tell us: 1. the name of the media outlet; 2. the date of publication; 3. the name of the journalist (if present) 4. any quoted source that relates to a message; 5. the message(s) you find, with the tone (positive/neutral/negative) that the reader would take from the text as it relates to our customer. Finally, we would ask you to include a very brief summary of what the whole item was about (although only as it relates to our customer).
Please bid on this work if you are interested, based on an hourly rate of £10-£20 per hour. Please also write a short paragraph in English of why we should select you for the work. To protect client confidentiality, we do not disclose their name until we have accepted you as an analyst and you have agreed a confidentiality clause with us.
We cannot tell from the media items how much time will be needed so should your bid be considered, we will send you the items and the brief and we will then need you to look at the items and assess the amount of time you will need (hourly rate) or suggest a fixed fee for the whole job.
This work will usually occur on a quarterly basis. This particular round of work needs to be completed by 27th July 2012. If you have any questions at any time, we will answer them through the PPH website.
