Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
General information for the app: Multi function Application that records and stores video
Kind of development: New app from scratch
Description of requirements/features: This Application is to use a number of features to record footage from either the Rear facing camera of the phone or a webcam attached via USB.
The main technological features that need to be included in the design are listed below and a full set of requirements can be provided but assume that there will be the need for other UI / UX aspects to the application :
- Pause footage based on location settings (e.g. if you stop moving the footage is paused and then starts again when you resume moving, note not stop but pause so timestamps need to be aligned on the internal video footage)
- Dim Screen during filming to save power
- Rolling footage - Video is recorded to the storage buffer and after a set amount of time footage is recorded to the beginning of the buffer overwriting the previous data and so on until the user asks to save the buffer as a file. This means it is always recording and just saves the last X number of minutes without filling the memory
- Interact with Webcams using the UVC protocols and have multiple resolution ability depending on device (like WebCam Pro in the Play Store)
- Record footage with a static logo overlay and dynamic overlay information taken from other sensors on the device (e.g. the accelerometers). No post processing on this so must be recorded live to the footage using something like OpenGl methods rather than applying after recording
Specific technologies required: USB UVC control, OpenGl or equiv
Extra notes: Please note this is a very technological application pushing devices hard so please only respond if you have deep technical abilities to be able to tackle these challenges with examples of your skills and previous projects. This Application is to support a hardware product and this will be iterating after launch so if this piece of work is done well we would be hoping for a more long term engagement with the developer.
In the future there is a desire to move this (with certain changes like the UVC camera aspects removed) to the iOS platform as well so the design should be in good condition and well noted for understanding later and can be quoted at this time
