X-Cart automatic adding of product to cart

I need to add packing to the cart when customer goes to checkout.

There are several types of packing envelopes, registered also as products. The information about envelopes is stored in a separate table with the fields: EnvelopeID, Priority, ProductCode

Each product has a corresponding envelope via the field items_per_box in the table xcart_products

When a customer goes to checkout, I need two operations to be executed:

1. to run a Delete query to remove a product with a certain type of SKU (this is required because customer may modify the order and packing might be already added earlier - the old packing must be removed), and

2. to determine from the list of products in the cart which is the highest priority envelope to be used and to add the corresponding to that envelope product to the cart.

No changes to the functionality of XCart is required, only two queries must be written and inserted into the right XCart modules.
