Description

We are looking to add an e-commerce service to an existing Squarespace site, here www.prolongevity.co.uk
We want to insert code into the existing site rather than build a new site.
This is a temporary measure and what is driving this is a need to create affiliate marketing linked to e-commerce.
The website is to be replaced in the next 6-12 months with a .NET based development and therefore ideally we would like code that can be transported and work in the new .NET website.
The site will sell deposits for a range of services and also pharmacy drugs and small items of equipment.
There is already a Stripe Payment account that can be connected.
What’s ideally needed would be ‘off the shelf’ code for a typical UK/EU pharmacy. But it will need special handling of Tax.
The challenge is that many of the customers will be diagnosed by as diabetics.
Some also will not be UK residents and so will be automatically VAT excempt.
This means that the ‘out of the box’ functionality in Squarespace will not suffice since…
What we are looking for is a developer who may already have a suitable piece of code that can be inserted into the Squarespace site and will support the following.
Normal e-commerce to sell all items, (with thumbnail pictures), and charge 20% UK VAT.
Before the customer gets to the shopping cart it will register their details.
This will check their country of residence - if they declare they are not in the UK they will automatically be VAT excempt.
If they are not UK VAT exempt the system will know to add VAT.
If they answer they are in the UK but are VAT exempt it will ask to confirm ‘Are you registered as a diabetic with the NHS?”, in which case they will not pay VAT.
If they say ‘Yes’ it will ask them to input details into a form (designed as attached to be given an e-signature) or to allow them to print off and then upload a scan or photo of the completed form. Once the form is sent then they should be able to order without paying VAT on a range of predefined items.
It will also have to have acceptance of terms and conditions plus acceptance of data-protection and data use.
We will supply the text for this.
In addition, we will ideally need an option for the business rather than the customer to telephone process orders with card not present.
Please respond with best estimates and timescales.
