Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
General information for the website: We provide online short courses - asbestos awareness, manual handling etc
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Description of requirements/features: See Spec
Payment methods: Credit Card
Extra notes: Introduction
This specification has been created to outline a new website for customers to take specific short courses e.g. asbestos awareness. The concept is a customer will request an ID that will allow them to log on and then take or track their progress through the available offered courses. The courses will not be free and an expectation of the website will be the ability to take secure payment of the course either as a full course or refresher. The final part of the website will be the issuing of certificates based on the customer passing the course with an acceptable score.
Website Requirement
The following points are the key requirements of the website:
-User login or registration.
-Tracking of taken courses, including renewal dates and scores.
-Issuing of certificates, needed to be serialised so they cannot be copied.
-Secure payments.
Pages needed
The following is the expected pages to be designed and built:
Login \ Register
-First page presented to the customer, one side to take details of new customer (Name, Company working For, Email address – will form the primary key for the customer, Password for security)
-Other side to have a login (email and password)
Course Selection and tracking
-Page that shows the customer information and the available courses. Split in two one side to show the customers history, courses and renewal dates.
-Second side will show the available courses. When a customer selects a course they will need to be taken to a page that requests payment either by debit or credit card. Once payment has been confirmed and approved the customer will be given access to the course material.
Course Pages
-Show course material, divided into sections,
-The course will be a multiple selection questionnaire. Each of the questions will be separated into the same sections as the course material.
-Once the course is completed show the customer their score.
-There will be a pass rate; if they have passed they will need the option to print a certificate to indicate the customer has completed the course.
Security and Coding
-The customer needs to feel the information we are taking from them is encrypted and stored in a responsible manner.
-The customer should not be able to bypass the course material or the payment to get to a certificate.
-The certificates should be able to be identified as unique. They should be printable for the customer to use.
-I would expect the website to be coded in C#.
-No reverse engineering of the webpages or the site should be possible.
-The customer should be able to have the web browser close and open and still have the course available to run with their progress saved.
