Hello
We have a number of Powerpoint presentations which have been created in connection with a Quiz producing software. The quiz software is designed to create SWF or EXE files but these are not suitable for our purpose. The software adds macros to Powerpoint in order to keep your score as you progress through the quiz and display it when you complete. This works fine when saved and run as a PPTM file and you use the mouse to click the 'start quiz' button.
The main problem is that this is to be browsed on a touch-screen and it seems that when touching the button to start, although the page changes to the first question, the variables and such are not initialized correctly.
I need to know how to fix this, as we have 3 PPTM quizzes (linked from a quiz choice start-screen which is saved as PPSM) and a touch-screen setup, but no scores on the quizzes. The touch-screen is an Iiyama and the PC is running Windows 8 and Powerpoint 2013. It seems the Iiyama touch interface software is relatively basic (just windows basic touch connectivity), although the same thing happens with the scores on my Windows tablet.
I can provide the quizzes to download, ideally you will need a touch-screen PC or Windows tablet to be able to confirm that it is working. I think that a simple auto-initialization as the slideshow starts would work fine, but I don't know enough about Powerpoint macros to resolve this. I have read that Powerpoint has an issue with running things on slideshow start, but you probably know about that already. There is no issue with macro security since this is running on a standalone PC on which the macros are enabled / security is disabled.
Just to confirm;
- The PC starts up and auto-runs a PPSM show full-screen which is a single slide with 3 pictures on, each picture links to another PPTM file - this is the quiz.
- the PPTM files include macros to keep score as you progress through the quiz, starting with a 'start quiz' button I believe initializes the quiz variables
- at the end of the quiz you are shown a score, and an 'exit' button which closes the PPTM and returns you to the PPSM, still open in the background
- the quizzes run on a touch-screen monitor and this seems to be at least part of our issue, since there is no score on the last page IF you touch the 'start quiz' rather than click it with the mouse.
Time is not as important as price on this project since it is for a local charity.
Let me know if you need any more information.
