04/18/18 Computer Issues (cont'd)
PM Surveying is a land survey co. based in West Palm Beach FL. We are having problems with our main property records database. (PM SURVEYING.mdb)
We are having problems with the PM SURVEYING database. Records (of completed land survey jobs/properties) that have been entered are not being found when we later search for them. I do not know how many of these records this involves. I do have the addresses of at least 40 records that have this problem. (We have computer folders and paper folders on every completed job)
We use this database every day. When we start a new survey job, it is important we can see if PM has completed other land surveys close by. (Like a property appraiser) We are relatively computer literate, however not with Access. We have never looked at the "inside functions" of the database. I had it revamped in 2013; the PM Database was "re-done" in 2013 by outside expert. The setup was to have just the entry window available to our staff to prevent any accidental problems with the "main part" of the database.
It seems to have worked very well until we noticed this problem. We do not know when this problem started. We do not know if the records being entered and not found are not being saved in the database or they are in there but somehow the search function is not finding them.
PM's Server is running Windows Server 2012.
Workstations: 7 on Windows 7 Pro. 4 run Office 365, 3 run Office 2007.
This screenshot shows the folder for PM's database, called PM SURVEYING.mdb. This is for all our completed jobs: property & survey data. Each record is a property we surveyed since about 2000.
PM Database (Microsoft Access): Issues as of 04-18-18
(screenshot did not show up)
The "PM Contacts" is our database for client contact info. It was created in 2017. It seems to be fine. It was created by a PM employee who had a good/decent knowledge of Access. She is no longer with PM.
Any suggestions/improvements for PM Contacts is alos welcome.
We do not want a "complicated" database setup. We want to be able to search by company name or a person's name or phone number, etc. to find our clients. We want data entry to be straightforward since a secretary would be entering data.
