Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: lead generation offers
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of requirements/functionality: We need countdown timer system that can be managed from a password protected admin panel so we don’t have to dig into the html code to make changes on the timers.
Here are the functionalities we’d like to have:
1. Display only mins & secs, or hrs, mins & secs, or days, hrs, mins & secs
2. Different timer styles to choose from
3. Ability to do the following when countdown is over
(i) redirect visitor to another; or
(ii) display new or additional info on the page
4. Movable/Resizable Text Box beside timer to type text (e.g. to enter “This offer expires in…”)
5. Analytics to show
(i) total number of visits
(ii) unique visits
(iii) visits before timer ends
(iv) visits after timer ends
6. Disable and enable timer on page (i.e. timer still on page and showing but can turn the countdown on and off)
7. Display and not-display timer on page even though timer is still counting
8. Overlay timer on another website or webpage
9. Choose (or select) from 3 different types of countdown timers explained below:
(i) Date/Time based Timer – The timer counts down a specific date/time
(ii) Evergreen Timer – Timer counts down an amount of time (e.g. 5 hrs) but can identify a returning visitor and countdown from their initial visit. So let's say we are counting down 5 hrs for example. If a visitor lands on the page and leaves but then comes back to the page 2 hrs later, the timer counts down 3 hrs from there instead of starting the 5-hr countdown again. If they leave again and come back 2 hrs after the 2nd visit, the timer counts down 1 hr from there , and so on. If they leave and come back more than 5 hrs after the first visit then the "offer Expired" message is shown. So basically, the countdown continues even when the visitor is away from the page.
(iii) Recycle Timer – This timer counts down to a particular time but can be set to repeat the cycle every x-amount of time (hourly, every 6 hours, daily, every 3 days, weekly, etc). For example we can set the timer to countdown to midnight daily. So if somebody lands on the page at 10am PST for example, they will have 14hrs on the clock. If they land at 8pm PST, they will have 4hrs on the clock, and so on. Once midnight PST is reached, the timer will start another 24 hr countdown to the next midnight. This cycle will be repeated for a pre-set "X" number of cycles (days, in this example) after which either (1) an "Offer Expired Webform" will be enabled on the page, OR (2) they will be redirected to a different "Offer Expired Webpage".
