Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
General information for the business: We licence software applications for postcode mapping, vehicle routing and related applications
Num. of modules: 10+
Description of every module: The software is modular, contains several libraries and plugins which extend its functions and uses several sets of postcode and digital map data. The software is built using an Apache Ant build, Apache Ivy Dependency Management and Jenkins Content Integration continuous build system. This system runs on a Ubuntu 14.04.04 LTS 32-bit server, a Centos 6.7 computer and a Windows 7 computer in the office.
The latest sets of digital postcode and digital map data will have to be added to the build system. The job is to build two C# .Net applications using the build system and Visual Studio 2010: 1) The Executable application; and 2) The packages or plugins. The results will have to be tested by running on a Windows PC and reviewing the trace log from the application.
Description of requirements/functionality: The build system provides error messages which require interpretation, debugging and fixing before performing another new build. The application has a GUI with a map window and functions. It enables users to read address lists with postcodes in Great Britain or the UK, create a map overlay on which a map symbol shows the location of each postcode unit point in Great Britain or UK. The application only takes a few minutes to build.
The last build of the application had a "binding" error according to the trace log. The application can be demonstrated to show where the binding error occurs in the trace log.
Specific technologies required: Microsoft C# .NET, Microsoft Visual Studio, Windows and Linux.
OS requirements: Windows, Linux
Extra notes: Job must be done in our office in North Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS7 2DR which is about 3 miles from the bus and train station Leeds or 10 minutes by bus.
