Kind of development: New program from scratch
Num. of modules: 1
Description of requirements/functionality: We are looking for some java code, that will be able to take an input Excel file, with multiple email addresses in different formats, determine and record the format of the email address.
firstname.lastname@example.org = email@example.com
ken.sayer@EnterpriseDB = fn.lnAenterprisedb.com
firstname.lastname@example.org = email@example.com
firstname.lastname@example.org = email@example.com
fn = first name
fi = first initial
ln = last name
li = last initial
mi = middle initial
mn = middle name
nn = number
Each result should be written into the same spreadsheet in a new column. ( assume the spreadsheet only has one column containing email address)
All email addresses and names will be based on standard English character sets.
The final results spreadsheet should be sorted by domain, and in the third column, indicating the most common 3 formats of email address per domain.
I can provide lots of test files with email addresses.
Project completion and sign off, when multiple test files I provide - work 100%
Generic email addresses like the following can be ignored. A configuration file, to record the generic addresses to ignore is also needed.
Specific technologies required: Java app that runs on PC or Mac.
OS requirements: Windows, Mac OS
Extra notes: Please let me know if you have any questions.
- I am flexible on project time frame, 2-4 weeks is fine.
- I do not have a specific budget.
- I will chose the partner, that can demonstrate they are able to deliver this project. Please explain your approach.
- any generic proposals, that do not describe your specific approach to this project, will just be ignored.
- Java code, to run on both PC and Mac is mandatory.

Can you please provide lots of test files with email addresses?
Would you be interested in a form based Excel application, using VBA - could you clarify how you tell the difference adam being fi.ln@ (A Dam) and fn@ (Adam (no last name) and ln@ (No first Name ) – last name Adam?
