Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
General information for the business: provides technical expertise to the oil and gas exploration and production industry
Description of every module: there are several modules:-
several input screens that define the problem inputs and assumptions
routine that checks the consistency of the inputs
routine that performs the technical calculations and simulations to forecast behaviour over time
routines that dumps out put to spreadsheet file and files for viewing in separate modules such as graphing module and gridding module
Description of requirements/functionality: during software installation I get a warning message that states a short cut link cannot be created because the destination folder could nt be found....
I get a message that the installation is successful
I can open the program, create new input parameters and create an input file for the simulation part of the process.
The simulation calculation routine appears to run but I get an error message that states there is insufficient storage.
the output files are small a few hundred Kb at the most so disk space isn't an issue.
I don't believe I need more RAM - I have 8GB -
I am looking to be able to complete the simulation calculations and output to the requisite files for post processing without unnecessary intervention on my part.
There will be no need to edit the calculation coding as this has been proven in the past to be robust.
OS requirements: Windows
Extra notes: This piece of software was originally developed for a large oil and gas business during the late 1990's and early 2000's. The software isn't currently supported and has no licence needs.
The last time I ran this software was during 2014 on my previous organisations pc running the previous windows version not Win10, so most probably Win 8 or 8.1
My machine is a Win 8 64bit system.
I can provide the installation files and screen shots of the error message as necessary (no access to pc at present)
