Description
The concept is an interactive game that has groups of people evolve art with a computer program to create art based on archetypal symbolism and the subconscious. The project was noticed by a huge London Arts festival (last year saw over 75,000 visitors) who want to feature it.
It must be online based as it has a plugin to an online database of archetypal imagery to create the art, but asides from that it can be any programming language you work best with. We understand it is a tight schedule but we are happy to financially compensate for this, bearing in mind we are a small arts collaboration and not a large corporation.
Ideally I am looking for someone who is London/UK based so they can attend the festival as on site tech support (I will pay transport). I am looking for someone who has previous experience in UI/UX as well as multiplayer interaction and basic visual art programming. Basic web design also desirable.
This is a massive opportunity to have your work advertised at one of London's biggest arts festivals as well as your time paid for and the opportunity to work on a computer program that has huge academic and commercial value because of its novel nature.
We had a programmer almost complete the project before however he dropped out due to health reasons and is now difficult to get in contact with. We can provide all the master programming files he did as an example as well as the concise functional requirements in a very visually explanative way however we would like to start this program from scratch with you.
Please take a look at the PDF attached below and let me know if the project intrigues you, I look forward to hearing your quotes and opinions then I can send over an NDA and we can begin ASAP!

Hey Victoria,
A bit difficult to fully understand the project and requirements, can it elaborated please in some way
Thank youVictoria W.20 May 2018Hi
Could you be more precise in the areas that you want more information about please? I’d be happy to explain further.

Hi Victoria
I have read through your brief and taken a look at the attached pdf doc (I also had a quick look into Dawkins' weasel) but still feel unclear on exactly how much work is required.
Is it possible to see the code the previous developer has put together?
This will help me understand the project a little better and also understand how much of the existing code is usable and how much extra work is needed.
Thanks
CliveVictoria W.19 May 2018Hi Clive, thanks for reaching out.
Yes it is possible to see the code of the previous programmer however he didn't leave notes to his programming and we are not able to get a hold of him so thats why we want to start afresh. A lot of the art producing algorithms for the program are worked out and designed by me and are explained very visually in the program's design document and are a solution to the previous issues we faced when developing it so we have a head start.
The program is loosely based on a Dawkin's weasel program in that it "evolves" an image. Traditionally the lines on a biomorph mutate each generation in other weasel programs, however in our program iconographic symbols are mutated in their position and visual presentation to create a mindmap of meaning in the art. The premise is the program will create an archetypal visual language of groups of people to abstractly sum up a concept through symbols and subconscious visual logic. It sounds complex, but really all the program does is mutate the images randomly but keep a tally of the votes from the users to determine which images go on to the next generation until we reach a final "most popular" image. In the same way survival of the fittest happens in nature, the program will produce social art in the most efficient way possible.
Hope this answers your questions.
VClive F.19 May 2018Hi Victoria
Can you attach the previous code to the job or perhaps send to me directly? It would also be useful to see any other documentation / info you have.
I cannot place an accurate bid until I know a little more. (Though I think I get the general concept)
Thanks
Clive
