Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Overview
I am in the process of setting up a new online database search engine for jobseekers / staff recruitment (similar to the likes of Monster, 1Job, peopleperhour.com) for professionals. I have sketched out the basic database requirements on Excel spreadsheets (I have no skills in Macros), and set up a domain name.
I now need the website and database to be properly constructed and put online.
Job Specification
I need developed:
- a large database to hold details of professionals, their skills, salaries and job requirements in a standardized CV format (it potentially needs sufficient space to take details of all professionals in the country) along with job vacancies also in a standardized CV format
- routines to search and match data, and to rate comparability
- an online billing system to issue fees for services rendered
- a website to tell the world about us, our services, screens to input data for jobseekers and job descriptions, screens to view search results
On-going work
1 I have sketched out the database with the aim of most of it being standard for all professionals, but I have confined the specifics to careers in accounting, as I am a Chartered Accountant myself. Expansion will be needed to cover other professions (eg lawyers, secretaries, marketing).
2 The database needs to be flexible to allow amendments, add-ons, etc, as and when clients offer suggestions or request expansions
3 On-going site maintenance will be needed
Issues
I am concerned about copyright, intellectual property rights, etc, of any program developed for me. I am not re-inventing the wheel with my website, but my ideas for the database seem different to what’s out there at the moment. I am hoping to take a big chunk of fees away from the recruitment industry, so I need to feel I can trust the successful developer / programmer / designer to form a close bond with me. I don’t mean to be funny about this, but I want to make sure the completed work is not offered to another client or to another country.
I live in East Sussex. It would be nice to have someone on board who lives reasonably local so that we can meet and discuss face to face, without the need for an aeroplane journey.

I am interested to hear your views on your prices for this exercise, so I have entered 0% in the box to see what you come up with.
I imagine the site is going to be similar in size, scope and complexity (or is that simplicity?) to the likes of existing recruitment agent sites and job-search sites.
