Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Overview of Application Required.
- We need an application which will automatically drag & drop files from a Compact Flash Card, into a DVD burning application, and burn a DVD with at least, the speed (preferably faster) ease of use, and high video quality of Toast 10 Titanium.
- Delivery speed is of the utmost importance with this application!
- User intervention should be regarded as absolute minimal.
- Video format will be full frame PAL (may need NTSC in future upgrades - Example files will be provided for developer to work with - currently .MPG).
- Formats to be supported should include: .mpg, .mpeg2, m2v,.aiff, .wav, (mp3 would be good but not absolutely necessary).
- The finished DVD must be region free, and capable of being played on the majority of domestic set-top DVD players in any of the major countries.
- Encoding should be fully automatic, no user selectable options available in the main program window (we may have this option under the preferences section)
- There is currently no requirement at this stage for menu's (may change in future upgrades), however the software must be able to 'ingest' at least two other files - the opening titles, and the trailers (closing titles) - these will sit either side of the main mpeg2 file (video format yet to be defined), and these should be able to be configured to sit in a template for repeated daily use.
- The application will also need to query how many DVD's (including the master)
ie:- 'How many DVD will be burned this session'
(this is for reporting and accounts purposes). The information gathered during this step (possibly a drop-down window with a numerical selection) will be written to a log file, and the combined details of which will then sent to an email address etc (configurable via the preferences at weekly intervals we specify (as set up in the preferences).
- Preferences will be password protected.
- The software should only be able to be run on an account with a specific name (pre-configurable).
- The software should only ingest files from a Compact flash Card called (for example) CFCARD.
- Setup prefs will need to include:
o Which burner should be used - currently we use an external DVD writer, but internal writer should be included as backup.
o The location of two additional movie files which will be used in the template (explained later).
o Location of the temp files used during the burn process (if necessary).
o Location of a backup drive (for saved DVD (image?) files)
o PAL or NTSC settings (possibly)
o Buffer underrun protection
o Must have 'Autoplay Disk on Insert' function
o 'Play all items continuously' option.
o Video Encoding options in here possibly?
- Application must be released fully when final payment is made - with absolutely no restrictions on us regarding future usage or distribution etc.
- This is not intended to be the final draft, however, these guidelines may be used to start dialogue until the tender is accepted and agreed by all parties involved.
