Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hello. We own several softwares which relate to a key international industry. We have active users in Japan and China working in their languages on our systems. A major expansion of current project in China is likely.
CV Please send your standard CV so we can open a dialogue about this work. There are excellent opportunities for the right people.
Our existing code generates substantial softwares which are proven with the market; and the commercial brand they support has strong potential to lead in its globalized industry segment. It addresses existing industry needs and basically replaces MS Office for 90% of users in a typical adopting business in this industry segment.
The core software has substantial logics and automations built over 10 years and is used by 5,000 seats at present. However, migration out of VB6 has been delayed (pressure of customer demands). In 2011 the UI was adapted to accept unicode and the ASP.NET DAL was modified to "transcode" from VB to .net and back to VB to handle the interchange of 2 byte characters. This work was designed to extend shelf life through 2013. But the migration or recode is now a top priority.
A secondary software was designed in the VIsual Web Gui framework and we are deciding whether to remain in the Framework or recorde entirely outside the framework.
The two softwares are likely to "merge" with the client-server migrating to ASP.NET and / or its being completely recoded in, say, C# preserving all the logics and functions (80% of current). This is subject to review.
ABOUT YOU
Very strong skills in dominant frameworks and either ASP.NET, C, (ideal if some knowledge of VB6), strong database design skills, and excellence in Entity Frameworks
