Description
Experience Level: Expert
We recently developed an iphone app for an accountancy firm. The app provides basic tax rate information such as income and corpoation tax rates.
Following the success of the app they would like to develop a very similar app to the iPhone one, but on the Android platform.
Please visit the following link for an idea of how it work and looks: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/uk-tax-rates/id426683261?mt=8
The content is fed in via an xml feed that already exists, we can provide the current XML feed to demonstrate how it works.
The biggest problem encountered with the iphone version is the lack of flexibility in the layouts. For example when it came to updating the XML feed with a couple of extra fields the app just ignored the data. We need the app to be able to handle the occasional additional field that may be added and just move the other content down further (much like a website would) without having to change code each time and having to resubmit the app.
The app should target a wide range of Android devices and so we should aim to target 1.6 and above as the apps functionality shouldn't require the features that later versions bring.
If any further information is required send me a message and I will be happy to clarify.
