Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I took over a business last year that had some negative press from a couple of years ago - someone with a grievance made some ill founded comments to the trade press. When Googling for our business name this article ranked number 2 in Google. Since taking over I've updated our site and am active on all social networks including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, Slideshare, Pinterest and YouTube.
My plan was to blog and create and post lots of content and comment on other content with the aim of dominating the first page of Google with our networks so prospects searching our name could see we were alive and well, and see our content.
Despite this effort I've not managed to shift the negative article - which is now 2 years out of date (the site wouldn't take it down) and my social networks are spread across the first 5 pages of Google. Directory submissions seem to be ranking higher.
We even did PR and got new articles published in the trade press but these can only be seen from page 2 onwards. Occasionally a social network or good article will feature on page 1 for the odd search but then sink to lower pages in the next search.
I'm at a loss now as to how to shift the negative article down and how to get our social/content channels on Page 1.
I've researched and read and tried all the good advice online but I now want to find someone who can put a strategy together with me and then help me execute it. I welcome proposals to assist me with this.
I've advertised at £20 an hour but will consider higher than this or a fixed price for highly credible responses/proposals.
