Description
Experience Level: Entry
Original Music for a fiction podcast, Intro 60 sec, Outro 1' 30"
The music for the outro is basically an extended version of the intro theme. Also, it would be a good idea if there were a second, related but contrasting theme so that one can avoid too much repetition of one theme. This will be especially useful for the outro, which is longer. We are not expecting sonata form in 30 seconds or 90 seconds, but that is still enough time for interesting and delightful musical invention.
Not Quite Heaven will have a complete movie soundtrack, just no pictures. It is what we call a radio-movie - an audio drama on its way to being a feature film, but still a complete entity unto itself.
The story is in the spirit of the best of the British films from the 40-50s, especially Ealing comedies. It features a wonderful heroine, who is a lady of a certain age and a charming, rags-to-riches rogue who is trying to swindle everyone’s pension. There are also murders, Ferraris and a foxtrot. You can see the description of Not Quite Heaven on our website:
https://www.mysteriousmovies.com/not-quite-heaven/
Style of music we are looking for:
- orchestral classical / jaunty feel - can have a touch of jazz - pre 1965
- nice catchy melody at the beginning (intro) - think of it as Sylvia's theme - could have the feeling of English movies from the fifties
- end piece needs to be longer version of the intro and will cover the spoken credits
- What we don't want is Hans Zimmer-style music, with pounding ostinato and no discernible melody; and not synthesizer heavy.
We have created a page of notes to guide you here:

Our team is very musically and technically literate so we will be easy to collaborate with. We like to discuss and work on Skype. We like to review anything produced early on, starting in the ideas stage; we find this helps to streamline the process and make sure that you work in the most efficient way and do not waste your time.
