I am looking for someone to help build me an app for a social enterprise group I work with. Put simply, it is an app that will compare prices. This will be a multi-stage project and I would like to work with someone who can do all stages, so the project has continuity.
Please read the details below - if you have any questions please just ask. If you are interested in taking on this project, please make sure when you contact me you let me know the expected price, along with the expected timeframe you can do each phase in.
I have found a template / tutorial online that may be a good base to start with if you're the sort of person who likes to shortcut things (to reduce the price and time taken to build), so if this is a way you might be interested in working let me know and I will send through the link (to the details).
Phase One: Functioning App with Price Comparison Ability
- Ability to compare different prices on a product. Runs from an internal database (from a spreadsheet or some other form of information storage), which holds information on multiple stores and their inventory list.
- Each item has a product information page. Should show name of product, size of package, picture, description, barcode number, and current prices at each store that sells it.
- Search functionality. Should be able to search items by product name, type, or barcode number (ideally a user would be able to scan a barcode using the camera on their phone and bring up the items information).
- Information should be region based (so for example the user chooses their location and the range they are interested in - for example 10, 20, 50 mile radius from where they are)
How this would work: A user can open the app, put in their location (or have it saved from a previous visit), search a product (for example ‘Fresh Oranges’), and a list will come up showing a list of all of the stores that are selling ‘Fresh Oranges’ and what prices they are currently being sold at in their area.
Users should be able to reorder this list (for example by lowest price, highest price, distance away etc). When they choose the one they like, they can tap on this to look at the item’s information page and get directions to the store.
Phase Two: Social Functionality
- Ability for users to create either a ‘shopper’ or a ‘store’ account.
- Logged in ‘shoppers’ can submit changes - for example ‘add a new product’, ‘correct / update a price’. Possibly automatically changed or admin / moderator approved?
- Logged in ‘stores’ can create a store page with their store details (which they can edit). They can add products and prices to their inventory list, which all go into the search database.
- Logged in ‘shoppers’ can earn points for submitting changes / helping the community - this does not need to be complicated, at the start of the project it just means any changes that are made need to be counted / tracked.
