Ministry of Thrift is a social enterprise with the aim of helping those on a low income manage their money more effectively. We have recently been asked to create a mobile solution for a youth project targeting young people aged 16-24n and are scoping out the project.
We have created a very basic choose your own adventure type scenario in order to help young people understand money management, priority and non priority debt and the consequences of falling into debt. One story line is about the cost implications of getting a flat and the other about the perils of falling into debt.
We need to convert this concept into a digital format which can be accessed by most mobile phones and perhaps desktop access. Ideally it would be an app but we would like advice as to whether another format like E-pub might be suitable and perhaps more affordable.
We have our own graphic designer and so will create the main art-work work required. It will look like an old fashioned comic based on our Ministry of Thrift brand and style. We will create the main PSD files and ask you to fill in the gaps as required.
Required functionality
Log in
Most of the functionality will simply be to be able to move forward and back through the screens and choose options given
We also require the facility for user generated input that will be moderated before appearing in the app/solution.
Desired functionality
There are a few characters that will appear in the narrative. We would like for users to be able to access and use pictures in their phones to replace the ‘head’ of the character if they choose.
We also require some basic animation with a character being able to jump up and down, fall over and/or move an arm.
We would also like to know if it is possible to add audio, and whether users can add audio. For example there are very brief written conversations. We would like them to be able to record a sentence in their own voice and then play it by pressing the written version in the app.
Timescales
This a voluntary sector project and so funding approval will be confirmed by Monday 23rd December. If approved the timescale for this is very tight as completion would be required by Jan 25th 2014.
We would also welcome any feedback that developers may have. We look forward to hearing from you.
