Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the app: Event entry ticket scanner. Scan ticket barcodes and make a REST API call to validate a ticket.
Kind of development: New app from scratch
Description of every page/module: Main modules will be:
- barcode scanner module (could be existing library such as ZXing)
- ticket validation through REST API
- display of validation results
- module for the user to change their settings
See the attached requirements document for all the details.
Description of requirements/features: Android mobile phone application that will be used to scan e-tickets issued by Coconut Tickets. Each ticket will have a 1-D barcode identifier (this is not the same as a QR code).
The user of the application will be a security guard at an outdoor or indoor event. He will be using the application mainly to know whether the holder of the ticket should be allowed to enter the event, although there are some additional scenarios that are explained in the document.
To decide whether the ticket can be used to enter the event an API call will need to be made to a server on the Internet. The server will handle all the decision making and will return a simple response to the mobile application. At this point the application will need to inform the user visually and audibly whether to let the person in or not.
This is a requirement for a simple Android application that integrates with processes on the server to validate tickets and probably integrates with a third party library to scan the tickets. There should be little development to do.
Once a barcode has been scanned the application will then call the server API. All the business logic will be on the server. The server will reply with a status and a message that needs to be displayed, no further action is needed from the application.
For more information see the attached requirements document.
Extra notes: This should be a simple application and should not require much code to be written. The complex barcode scanning can be achieved by integrating with a 3rd party library and the validation of tickets will be achieved by making API calls to the server.
The decision on who to award the project to will be decided on total cost and perceived probability to deliver a working application.

Hello Clive,
Thanks for the Invitation.
However, the budget that you have shared is very less. Could you please confirm your budget again and let me know if you are flexible with it?
Thanks. -
