Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are a legal community website encompassing social networks, blogging, and consumer (client) information about lawyers, courts, and law. We have an opportunity for a number of people with at least two years of successful sales experience to prospect, call, and sell into exclusive territories as independent, outside reps for the classified advertising portion of the site.
We are looking for people who are accustomed to working independently while remaining responsive to our needs. You are comfortable contacting business owners and other professionals and asking for the buy. You know how to find who you are looking for and require little or no handholding. Your independence does not mean you would be an embarrassment to us. We fully expect that over time you will be thoroughly familiar with the market in your territory whether you live there or not. We have some very specific ideas about who to target that we will share with you.
Anyone who has knowledge about the legal community, as a lawyer, legal assistant, court clerk, paralegal, etc. would have a definite advantage in this work. Your sales experience does not have to be Fortune 500 (although that would certainly be ok). Avon, Mary Kay, or Tupperware experience would be fine, if it has been successful for at least two years. On the other hand, if all you'e done is retail, where you just sat there waiting for the customer to walk up and hand you money, we're not interested. The same is true if you were in an MLM and all you did was recruit more people into the organization instead of actually, and successfully, selling things.
The ad prices are relatively small, but this is not a complex, long term sales cycle. If you can sell 1600 ads a year you will bring us revenue of $120,000, more if you upsell. If you can make 60 calls a day, and sell 1 in 10, you would be worth $108,000 in gross revenues per year to us, not counting upsells. That's based on a 48 week year, so you still have lots of time to yourself, if you're disciplined and well organized. If you make 60 calls and sell 1 in 20, you're only worth $54,000 in gross revenues to us. If you made 70 calls and sold 3 out of 40, you'd be worth $94,500, but if you made 40 calls and sold half of them, you'd be worth $360,000.
That's more than enough hints to help you figure out our price structure and how to calculate your bid, and anyone who can't do the math won't work out for us anyway. So, how hard do you want to work? Are you confident that you can efficiently turn a profit for both of us? What is your bid to do this work for us? Send us your bid, the top three US territories you'd like, and why, in order of preference, along with a CV or resume (including your salary or commissioned earnings history), and the date you can get started.
