This research project looks at the medium of podcasts and how they enable brands to tell stories and convey messages to consumers in a more effective way than other branded content formats. The project is part of my MSc Marketing degree at Birkbeck, University of London. The project has received ethical approval. You will need to sign and date a research consent form.
This research project involves interviewing people who are actively listening or have previously listened to more than one podcast and/or branded podcasts during the last 12 months. If you agree to take part, you will be interviewed for about 30 minutes. Interviews will take place on an agreed date either via Skype. You will be asked questions about your experience listening to promotional content and brand related messaging within podcasts and your motivations for listening to branded podcasts. You can choose not to answer any particular question.
With your permission the interview will be audio-recorded. This recording is used for transcription purposes. Audio files and anonymised transcripts will be stored password protected on personal computer. I, the research team, my supervisor, and the markers of my project will have access to these files.
The dissertation will not use your name or that of your organisation. I will identify common themes across interviews. If excerpts from your interview are used, I will screen these to not include information that, in my view, can indirectly lead to you or your organisation becoming identifiable.
