Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
We are looking for the right person to build a spreadsheet of independent schools in the London area, make initial contact and arrange for follow up calls or meetings with an appropriate person in the school.
Organisation Information
Green Schools Project supports young people to lead environmental projects such as energy saving and encouraging walking to school, helping to inspire their school and community to go green. It involves them in social action, building their leadership, communication and teamwork skills as well as their confidence, resilience and wellbeing.
Find out more about us by visiting our website www.greenschoolsproject.org.uk
Your Tasks
• Find details of independent schools in the London area and add them to a spreadsheet (this has been started already)
• Make an initial call and/or email and where possible arrange a follow up call or meeting with an appropriate person in the school.
What we can offer you
• An opportunity to work with an award winning social enterprise that has the potential to transform the way that young people engage with environmental issues.
• This will not be the highest paying job, but it will help young people to get involved with an issue that they care about and help an early stage social enterprise to increase its impact.
Time commitment and working arrangement
This is flexible but the work would be from the week beginning 11th June until 6th July. Payment would be made on an hourly or daily rate (this can be negotiated) plus commission based on schools joining the programme.
Who we are looking for
Someone looking to make more than just money. We need the person carrying this out to care about environmental issues and giving young people the opportunity to help schools to tackle climate change by getting involved with Green Schools Project. Experience of working with schools would be very helpful.
Required Skills
• You must be an excellent communicator
• You need to be well organised and deliver your work in a coherent manner
• You need to be a problem solver - getting to speak to the right person in schools is a challenge, and you need to be able to persevere.
Process
After assessing your application I will need to speak to you on Skype, or even better would be to meet face to face before starting the job. I am based in London, so it would be best if you are as well, however if you are in a different part of the country communicating via skype and phone would be possible.
