Description

Experience Level: Expert
Hi there,

We are looking for an expert who can help us find a machine that can wet-etch around the outside and inside of a bowl (please see attached image). We are just looking for the wet etching solution to be applied to the bowl, we don't need help with the rest of the etching process.

Ideally we are looking for a finished machine that comes with easy to use software.

We produce singing bowls and there’s a step that we hope to automate (or speed up with the help of a modern tool or a machinery). There are many steps to making these singing bowl products, but really where we need help is speeding up the part where the artisans paint the artwork on the inside and outside of each bowl MANUALLY using a special ink (the artisans make their own ink.)

I have attached a short video from Youtube showing this painting process so you understand it better.

You can skip ahead to 4:40 to see the painting of artwork on bowls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grtLgGn3Oe4
After painting the artwork on the inside and outside of the bowl, they will proceed to the next step which is a process called etching. In etching, the bowls are stored for a limited time in an acidic chemical. We watch them very closely during this step, as there is a specific amount of time they should remain submerged.

During the etching, the acid doesn't attack the ink the artisans are currently using to paint on the bowls, so it only corrodes (etches) the non-painted areas, permanently decorating the bowl. The whole idea is that we need to find a machine for printing designs on the bowls, and afterward, the etching process will continue as usual.

Do you know any machine or tool that can do the job?

Thanks
Richard
