Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are a new start up business and our main focus will be in the weight loss arena.
Having developed a range of marketing strategies, the company has developed a clearer brand image but now requires a multi-functional website.
This brief outlines the requirements for the multi-functional website.
1.0 Objectives of the project
The objective of this assignment is to develop a simple but fantastic sales and marketing website that contains information about the weight loss programme, contact details for sales enquiries and multiple pages of information.
Further details of our requirements are outlined in the following sections of this brief.
2.0 Web development requirements
Our general requirements from the website are as follows:
• It needs to be user friendly in terms of the initial development of the website – e.g. changing copy
• The website needs to be easy to use from the customer’s perspective and easy to update and maintain for the business
• The functionality needs to be straightforward and intuitive
• Navigation to different areas of the site needs to be clear and simple and any destination links need to be clearly and simply described
• The look and feel of all of the pages produced need to be consistent
• The website will need to be viewed on a variety of resolutions, screen widths and, crucially, on mobile phones
• Data collected from any contact forms completed will need to be sent to a central repository and the database will need to be easily accessed via an MS Office programme – e.g. Excel
• The site will need to be flexible enough to be able to link with social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin
In terms of the look and feel of the website, our requirements are as follows:
• The site needs to be instantly identifiable and consistent with all other marketing communications
• Images and design need to be clear and crisp and the colour pallets used need to be contrasting (for example, no use of yellow on white backgrounds) – consider how well the page would photocopy if needs be as, we may need to keep paper copies of customer details
• Pages should be clutter-free with enough white space for important information to stand out
We will provide a full set of brand values and guidelines within which our chosen provider will need to work very closely. We will also provide brand imagery that should be used in line with the brand guidelines.
3.0 Web functionality requirements
At this initial stage of development, we are look for our chosen provider to develop a relatively simple sales and marketing website. Our suggested design for the website is as follows:
• Across the top of the pages, tablets showing each of the different web pages
• On the home page, on the left hand side links to each of the different pages
We will need the following pages in the first instance:
• Home page: containing links to the other pages, very clear telephone and email contact details and introductory copy + Email a friend button
• Page containing information about the programme: the different elements of the programme will be explained, stage by stage – after the description of each stage of the of the programme, we will need a link to the section of the following page that explains the benefits of the treatment
• Page containing the descriptions of the treatments: we will provide descriptions of each of the treatments and explain how they benefit the consumer in terms of achieving weight loss
• Contact form: we will need a space whereby, if preferred to emailing or telephoning the Clinic, people can leave their details and request a leaflet or telephone call
All copy will be provided by our Marketing Manager in Word document format.
The project will need to commence by 10th December and completed and live by 19th December 2010. This is a drop dead day for us.
