Description
Experience Level: Expert
Hi folks, I’d just like to state from the outset that I am not a web developer/designer etc. and have little knowledge of the field, hence I am putting my ideas forward and would like offers of the best way to go about the job and the maintenance of the site in the future. The job is more a programming based one rather than anything monotonous. There’s a fair bit of information here as the idea itself is sort of simple but there’s a few layers to it. Send questions/opinions my way if needed.
I would like a website in the style of these:
http://www.junkclub.com/
http://motionbristol.com/
http://www.alexandrapalace.com/
http://www.fabriclondon.com/
A similar layout and very clean, crisp feel is what I’m after. A logo design will need to be created using the predetermined web address. This logo will be critical to the project as it will be used heavily in marketing campaigns (however if you feel you have the skills needed to create the site but not the logo, still put a bid in and I may get someone else to create the logo). A chat through what I’m after followed by a few mock up designs for the layout and logo will be needed.
I will need an easy to maintain login system which I will have access to; the login will not be for the general public but for people that I have agreed to have accounts (hence a login on the homepage isn’t necessary). I think the best way would be for me to create accounts I can then send people the details for, they can then log in and change their password etc. I’d still like to be able to hide profiles, pause accounts etc.
The website will enable ‘approved’ members to login into their account and create a profile page and (initially) an additional seven pages for each day of the week.
From the members’ login point of view, their profile will consist of various input boxes: including a Google maps (or similar) plugin for their location, a city option so they can be filtered out in searches, a description of themselves, a profile photo (and possibly gallery) etc. etc.
From the members’ login point of view, the pages for each day of the week will consist of dropdown, text input, logo upload and tick options; the options chosen will generate the pages for each day of the week that the general public can see. This information will be used to filter results on the site.
The homepage will have two drop-down menus, one for the area (e.g. Southampton; South West; London; etc.) and one for the day of the week (Monday – Sunday, or ‘any’). The area options will only appear in the dropdown menu when they have been inputted into a profile by one of the approved members.
When options are selected from the drop-downs on the homepage and go is pressed, the next page will display results relevant to the information put into the profiles/days of the week pages. A filter system on the page will allow users to find results relevant to their needs and also a ordering system will be used (e.g. cheapest to most expensive; etc.)
Each ‘profile’ and its relevant days of the week pages will need to have a Facebook plugin to allow the general public to ‘like’, ‘comment’, ‘share’ etc. The days of the week will also need a ‘Report’ feature whereby the public can report if information is incorrect (probably best using a simple contact form).
In bids I’d like a quote of the timescale anticipated for such a project.
This will (hopefully) be an ever expanding project and hence work will also be needed in the future.
Apologies for the demanding essay and cheers for bidding! George
