Description
I need a modern and fully responsive mobile-friendly website but essentially I think I will only require 4 basic template pages.
I have previously used Joomla but I'm not impressed with the SEO, so I would prefer to stick to html/css.
A good model is: https://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/
*Their header 'Location' dropdown menu might be a neater alternative to my side panel menu
*The general format of the index page is also a suitable format.
*Not keen on their colour scheme though.
[1] Landing/front page index (http://www.selfcateringinthecotswolds.co.uk/index.html)
*Example 1: https://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/
*Example 2: https://www.manorcottages.co.uk/cottages
*Header 1: logo & strapline
*Header 2: full page width slider, with caption facility
*Header 3: top menu
*Footer line 1: site name + logo + copyright
*New footer line 2: social media links
*Side Panel: Dropdown menu) - this is a .ssi file
Note: holidaycottages.co.uk 'Location' dropdown menu in the header is a neater solution
*Page Body:
Box 1: Featured venues section - image grid
Example: https://www.manorcottages.co.uk/cottages - but without the price/changeover box or blurb
Box 2: Image grid with caption links eg: image with 'larger properties' caption linked to larger properties page
Example: holidaycottages.co.uk 'Holiday Cottages' front page section
Box 3: General blurb
Box 2 or 3 repeated as required
[2] Listings Page Template (http://www.selfcateringinthecotswolds.co.uk/moreton-in-marsh-self-catering.html)
*This a template for all of the listing pages, which I can then replicate for each location
Example: https://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/cottages
*Header 1: logo and strapline
*Header 2: full page width static image
*Header 3: top menu
*Header 4: Breadcrumbs
*Side Panel: Dropdown menu
Note: A 'Location' dropdown item in the Header 3 top menu might be a neater solution
*Footer line 1: site name + logo + copyright
*Footer line 2: facility for adding social media links
*Page Body
Box 1: Page title line 1 (eg: Moreton in Marsh)
Box 1: Page title line 2 (eg: self catering holiday accommodation in moreton in marsh)
Box 2: Location description
Box 3: List - currently a bullet list but could be buttons. Each is to be linked to page anchor.
Box 4: sub-heading (eg: sleeping up to 2 or location name, with page anchor)
Box 5: Property listing - probably a larger image than I currently use (ideally click on it to see a pop-up larger image).
Example: https://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/cottages (but without the changeover day and pricing boxes)...the image mini-slider is good but it may just be too much work to upload all the extra images required.
The 'View, / 'More information' button is to link to an external url
Boxes 4 and 5 repeatable as required
[3] General Page Template (http://www.selfcateringinthecotswolds.co.uk/location-map.html)
Example: https://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/dog-friendly
This a general 'blog' webpage template for adding information within the body
*Headers, footers and side panel, as Listings Page Template
*Page Body: I would usually insert a table within the body area to suit whatever I want to include, but I know this is frowned on as bad coding and is a problem for responsive webpages.
[4] Contact Page (http://www.selfcateringinthecotswolds.co.uk/contactus.html)
*Headers, footers and side panel, as Listings Page Template
*Box 1: Contact form
*Box 2: Advertising information
*Box 3: Paypal payment
Notes:
*I use KompoZer html editing program - it's a bit creaky and crashes a lot but it does what I want and I am used to it.
*I use .ssi files for items that appear on multiple pages. You probably have a better solution.
*Use random/public domain images throughout, I will substitute my own, client or photostock images.
