Description
Experience Level: Expert
My client has a Multi Store Magento community 1.7.0.1 site. They now wish to have a mobile site working off the same platform to launch late November.
I would need to see examples of live Magento work particularly mobile sites. The flow and look would be similar to the ASOS mobile site but following the theme and design of my clients site.
A number of other future work opportunities are available through this same client.
CLIENT SPECIFICATION
• Mobile speed
• 0.25 second can lower Google search shows due to penalties
• Average user will wait 2/3 seconds before leaving a site
• Limit distractions such as banners. Main focus site conversions & usability
• Navigation – 50-67% of users are lost because they cannot find a product
• If it cannot be done with a thumb, it shouldn’t be done – left handed people - large hands etc
• Visibility – viewed in sunlight conditions as well as indoor lighting
• No Flash, no Adobe, no pop-ups
• No erroneous data – will slow speed
• Click to call. - Make phone numbers clickable to place a call. ability to find on a map, or find the nearest place to locate products
• Responsive design? Work across all mobile devices and handle technical enhancements. Resolution - iPhone 4 640 x 960, iPad 1024 x 768, Android and Blackberry phones feature a screen size at 320×240 – must be kept in mind with site design.
• Mobile redirect – detect whether a user is using mobile or not and sending them to the correct site. Searches must bring people to correct page
• As few clicks as possible avoid bounce rates and improve conversion
• Sales must be split to mobile/pc conversion. Separate URL for mobile required (m subdomain or /mobile etc)
• 40% of people would visit a competitor’s site because of a poor mobile experience
Examples of good mobile sites: Mr Porter, ASOS, Mainline menswear. Bad example – choice menswear – no ability to choose brand, images too small and too dark.
