Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
Information for the business: We design women's clothing is fun prints.
Industry: Art and Design
Design details: We are a new clothing label located on the Gulf Coast of the US. We do cotton skirts and dresses in fun, happy prints under our label, Creole Cottage Designs - - we always work in cotton (poplin) and we always do prints. We are a casual label and we are known for our first design, the Fest Skirt. While we are still small, we are growing. Attached are a few photos of some prints we have done. We do a lot of contrast print mix as well, the Fest Skirt has a contrast waistband that we flip down if we want the skirt shorter. So we always pair our prints to make sure we have coordinating prints. We have been buying our prints from jobbers and we have done a few of our own. Now we want to do a line of signature toiles, the first two will be a nod to New Orleans, our hometown. Our look is decidedly laid back, fun, a bit girly and flirty. We design for the woman who lives in warm weather locales. She loves fashion, art, music and life and values comfort as well as style. We find bold, big two color prints seem to sell well and our toiles do great. We need a textile designer to do prints for us on a regular basis, we retire the print after a season. We may reintroduce those prints but we are known for fresh prints. The medallion print used in one of the photos was a big seller. We draw inspiration from everything music, art, classical design, etc. Nature is a big theme but sometimes it’s just a fun print, be it geo or paisley. We often use a scale of print more found in home decor design, the medallion print in the photos attached is an example. We need one or two textile print designers or surface designers to create custom prints in color palettes we choose. We want to pay a price per print and we want to own the rights to the print. Some prints will be simple and some will be more complicated, so we expect to pay a range. Please give us your range for a simple design versus a more complicated toile print, low to high price. NOTE: We are looking for one or two designers to create prints for us on a regular, ongoing basis. We want a long term relationship with someone who understands our aesthetic and works with us each season to create new prints.
Ideas for the visual style: See attached photos.
Things to avoid: Overly busy designs, dark palettes.
Urls to draw inspiration from: amybutlerdesign.com
Where the design will be used: We sell to boutiques around the globe in mostly warm weather locations.
Extra notes:
