Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hi,
I'm looking for an experienced garden designer with expertise in developing a planting scheme for a typical family garden boarder.
The garden has already been hard landscaped with slate patio and retaining green oak walls already built (see photos). The plant boarder to be designed and then planted out is 'L' shaped approx 7m on each length and 0.7m deep to the Fence. The boarder is raised in a light oak sleeper surround by 0.4m high. Ideally I'm seeking guidance on a specific planting scheme rather than an overall garden scheme. I am not a gardener but would like a new attractive contemporary boarder design which I will purchase and plant myself. The lawn has not been laid yet and I plan to paint/stain the garden fence to complement the garden scheme.
As a deliverable, I would require a planting layout and shopping list detailing plant species and typical purchase costs (£).
Planting budget will be around £1000 and I'll probably source from local suppliers (plant supply not part of scope). Cost is the driver like all projects.
Key to scheme is contemporary, architectural but not groomed, definitely low maintenance, safe for children (no thorns, poisonous leaves etc.) , all year round attractiveness, suitable for a heavy clay soil. Garden is east facing hence boarder is on north and east sides and suitable for a British climate. Morning and afternoon Sun tracks across the garden. You will note from the photos that there is a tree in the far boarder. Some screening above fence line and extra privacy would be good but not too fussed on flowers.
