Looking for a young, (not set in their ways), progressive architect, or a small architect’s bureau, who is not concerned about using unconventional, revolutionary, and above all novel architectural methods, to deliver to us, (in the first instance), a set of basic architectural sketches to determine a design we can agree on, and subsequently also elevations for a near future, (1 year at the most), construction project. This should comprise at least 20, (but preferably more), 2-bed flats set in one building with only two sides incorporating windows mainly facing in one direction of a local street in one of the most appealing locations in Torquay at the English Riviera, in Devon, with roof of the new building set at the same level as surrounding gardens and topped by a garden space. Two of the sides of the building would have no windows as they would be set underground facing a hill, (and a set of two underground retaining walls), which the new building would be set back into. As the construction site for this project and the land devoted to it is situated on a boundary with a local street that has a strong incline downwards heading towards a local beach it is anticipated that the flats will have to be displaced over 2 and a half floors with an underground carpark, where the main resident’s access to the building would also be from the carpark internally.
