Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are creating Boyds of Oxford
a new online retail shop selling a range of unusual, practical, interesting gifts, accessories and ‘stuff’ and all Made in Britain (our USP).
Some will be sourced locally, others from around the country which are not on the whole stocked in large department stores or on eBay. We will be championing the independent designer/manufacturer, the up and coming young designer and by stocking them we will be helping them with their own PR and marketing.
We are targeting customers who like to support Britain’s best and prices will range from £5 to £500.
We will be using Shopify and are considering a retro / vintage feel to the website circa 1950 (check out Shopify vintage themes, but maybe we want to give the impression that Boyds of Oxford was formed earlier than that.
Hence the initial self-made design concepts to date (attached) which looks Georgian which is entirely wrong for a 1950’s theme. None of the attached are original but give you a flavour of the things we like. I think a hand-written strap like ‘Essentially British’ or ‘The Very Best of British’ might work underneath.
We are very keen to use a bee as our trademark (and therefore our favicon too) – ‘B’ is British, Boyd, bees are good for health, they are loved by the British, are industrious and represent industry in heraldry. Boyds of Oxford - B keeping – keeping Britain going etc. We will also be doing our own ‘Boyds of Oxford’ branded products which means that we need it to work on labels as well.
It might be that the bee lies on top of the B for Boyds or is intertwined, but we would like to use the bee on its own on the website and we don’t want the website colours to be limited to gold and black!
If you can make sense of the above (!) please could you give us a quote for creating our logo and supporting idents such as typefaces etc.
