Type of logo: Character
Brand name/slogan in logo: Don't be a Grockle
Ideas for the visual style: Human/Animal character - Distasteful
Things to avoid: Gender specific images
Where the design will be used: social media
Extra notes: I need a logo for a local behaviour change campaign, using a negative identity. The best past example is the British "Don't be a Litter Bug" campaign, which caught public imagination and has lasted.
This one is using the local, negative description of "Grackle" to typify a range of anti-social behaviours in a National Park: driving too fast, littering, feeding livestock, not closing field gates etc. The Grockle was a 1920s cartoon character; a dragon owned by a little boy, that gave him some power, but had very bad behaviour. In the 1960s the term was adopted from a film "The System", as a negative term for tourists. It is used similarly by local people in the New Forest National Park. The campaIgn intends to turn this on local people, highlighting their own "bad" behaviour that is ignorant or insensitive to the National Park. I have attached two images that I thought might provide a useful starting point for thinking about this (Copyright: iStock.com)
