Description
Experience Level: Expert
Looking for 3-5 design proposals on how a botanical pattern might look which is intended to be used on several existing products (links below)
As a company we specialise in Small Batch Craft Distillers (alcohol) from all over the UK. We only stock distilleries that distill the products themselves and they predominantly use natural ingredients where possible, some of which grow or forage the ingredients themselves. Look at Old Curiosity (https://www.theoldcuriosity.co.uk/) and Lussa Gin (https://www.lussagin.com/) to get an idea of the producer we work with and stock. This adds to the quality and provenance of the products, and is a good selling point for our products in our stores.
The products we bring in (30 products across 20 distilleries) we bottle and label ourselves (see our website to see how our concept works: k-spirits.co.uk), In store we do this by handwritting product information onto the bottles, however we are now looking to create proper labels to attract a wider audience through wholesale and online purchases ramping up volume. We believe we need to take the product from its 'craft roots' to something a little more polished to access these markets.
Therefore it now make sense to create a label that we can apply ourselves removing the need to hand write on the bottles.
A core part of this label will be the product and producers name, along with volume and alcohol content of each product - look at 200ml stacking bottles attachment to see an example of this. We also intend to create a small product description label as well that will go on the reverse side of the bottle. In addition to that - and where this project is centered - is creating graphics to support these labels and bring to life the products. We believe the best way to do that would be to create graphics that showcase the natural nature of our products, highlighting some of the fresh botanicals that are present in the products.
To name a few: Juniper, Lavender, Echinacea, Rose, Lemonbalm, Bog Myrtle, Honey, Apples, Rhubarb, Apricots, Sage, Fennel, Lemon Verbena, Elderflower, Wheat, Coffee beans, ginger, chilli, cherry, Strawberries, Jasmine
You can see all of our products on the website if you need more to play with. Also if you look closer at our logo on the website, this also contains a wide range of botanicals already.
What we are looking for is to create a generic botanical pattern containing some of the above, to highlight the natural nature of our products and enhance the attractiveness of our packaging and bottles. We would aim to use this on several products:
- 200ml square stacker bottles (https://www.k-spirits.co.uk/product/200ml-stacking-trio/) ON SIDES AND FRONT LABEL - WOULD BE A TRANSPARENT LABEL
- 500ml Julia bottle (https://www.thebottlejarstore.co.uk/product/julia-500ml/) ON FRONT AND BACK LABEL - WOULD BE A TRANSPARENT LABEL
- Tasting Stack box sides (https://www.k-spirits.co.uk/product/lovely-liqueurs/) REPLACING EXISTING PATTERN
- Tasting set box (https://www.k-spirits.co.uk/product/craft-spirits-tasting-sets/) REPLACING EXISTING PATTERN
So now looking to gather proposals from 3-5 packaging designers on how this pattern could look and be applied.
Please take account of its generic nature - preferable would like to use one pattern to cover all spirits (Gin, Whisky, Rum, Brandy, Vodka), however know the ingredients in each are quite different:
Gin = juniper + a wide range of ingredients
Vodka = made from grain with a small selction of other botanicals
Brandy = made from apples and aged in our case
Rum = made from sugar cane, however some ingredients like apricot, lemongrass and chili are in ours
Whisky = made from malted barley and sometimes smoked in peat.
One way I would not be adverse to is to create a dark and stormy pattern that encapsulates darker spirits and the other to be light and colourful capturing the essence of the gins and vodkas.
These proposals will hopefully lead onto a wider price of work where I am looking for help in designing a wide range of our packaging including a few that are in the early stages of development and would require a packaging/graphic designer involvement in the very near future.
Files uploaded:
Tasting Stack - The botanical wrap would replace the current pattern
Tasting Set - The botanical wrap would replace the current pattern
200ml Stacking bottles - showcasing how product info will likely be put onto the bottle and where we would use the botanical pattern.
So looking for a selection of designers to spend 1-2 hours preparing a proposal on how this could look.
Please ask if you need further information or pictures/vector files to finalise these proposals. Would like to get the proposals back before the end of the week to evaluate. To find us on facebook and Insta look for KindredSpirits.uk or the links are on the website - please message only through this portal.
