Description
Experience Level: Entry
Information for the business: Nursing home project to be built
Industry: Healthcare
Design details: Please be aware this is a repost - I realise I didn't have enough information on my previous post and wasn't clear as to what I am after, so thought it was best to repost. Apologies if you've replied to my previous post!
I am not looking for an architect to do a project, all I am looking for is for ideas on how to best design my nursing home.
the MAX space for the building is:
AREA: 402 sqmt, at the moment the dimensions I am playing with are: 15 x 27mt
The house must not necessarily be rectangular but the area has to be max 402 sqmt.
HEIGHT: 8.5mt including roof. No exceptions
I started to draw this myself to get an idea but the problem I have is that the space is huge, and rooms in the middle will be dark/no air, light etc. so we need to design something that will be airy, spacious and fit as many rooms as possible – all rooms must have windows/balconies where possible and must have a toilet.
I am thinking about two stories, one with individual rooms only, and one with rooms for 4 people, 4 single beds. All rooms must have a bathroom.
The min dimensions for the rooms are:
1bed: 11.1 sqmt
4 bed: min 5.5sqmt per bed, plus 1mt between beds and a toilet of min 3.6sqmt. So let’s say around 32sqmt
In addition to the rooms the building must have the following spaces:
• Kitchen and adjacent cleaning room (no min dimensions but must be enough space to store food for 90 people with big fridges and also for two people to work)
• Gym area/work out studio (min 15 sqmt but ideally bigger than that)
• Canteen area (min 45 sqmt) ideally close to the kitchen
• TV lounge (min 78 sqmt)
• Enfermary (min 9sqmt)
• Storage room (min 10 sqmt)
• Dressing and staff room with toilet (min 6sqmt + two 3.6sqmt toilets)
• Office (near entrance, reception area)
• Reception area
• Guest bathroom (min 4sqmt) per floor
• Ramp going up between floors (min 1.20 width, it has a limited incline so will need two sets to go up one floor)
• Stairs (min 1.20 width)
•
The space should fit min 80 people, ideally something closer to 90 if possible.
Target audience: families visiting the place considering it for a loved one to live there, and elderly people visiting/living in the space
Messages to communicate through the design:
- spacious place
- airy and light
- not crowded
- beautiful flow in the building
- functional design for the staff
Ideas for the visual style: classic, elegant, homely, old people friendly
Things to avoid: tacky, crowded spaces, not old people friendly
Where the design will be used: will be used to add to our list of ideas and given to our architect as things to implement
Extra notes: This doesn't need to be the a full-on project, just looking for creative ideas of what to do with the space and looking to maximise usage (number of people) and still maintain a homely environment/look.
ideally looking for something with room dimensions and a 3d model would be super helpful
Ideas for the visual style: How to make it light inside/ in the middle? inside courtyard (be mindful it rains a lot there)
Urls to draw inspiration from: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=how+to+make+a+big+building+airy+inside&client=safari&rls=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjitNfe2_7TAhWrCsAKHdzICqIQ_AUIBigB&biw=1366&bih=707#tbm=isch&q=colonial+houses+petropolis;
Extra notes: Colonial house styles are traditional in the town where this will be built, but we are also open to a mode modern twist. Cost is a consideration obviously.
I am already on a contract with an architect so not looking to spend loads on this, just looking for a few ideas. probably ideal for young designers or students
Attached is a picture of the land plot - it'll be elevated from the street level and the road you see on the left is going up these 5mt, the entrance/ reception area etc. should be on the left of the building near the end of that road.
many thanks!
