Experience Level: Expert
We are a startup company designing a video game for the iPhone and are looking for a freelance artist to design our graphics. We would like a 2D side scrolling cartoon style style for the graphics, bright bold colors, black outlines, traditional Mario/Sonic style or Simpsons, Earthworm Jim etc..
The graphics include:
- Backgrounds and scenery for the levels, which need to be repeatable.
- Main character and it's animations
- Many other antagonists/protagonists and their animations
- Screens such as splash, loading, level complete etc.
We are looking to make 12 to 16 levels, and as with many video games this will be split in to 3 or 4 worlds, so each world will have a theme and the graphics will be reused throughout each of the levels.
The game needs to feel cute and fun, but not basic. Since we are a startup our budget will be small, but if this game does well we would also need the same graphics provided in different resolutions and detail for other sized devices, such as the iPad, iPhone 4 and Android.
The levels will be constructed using 32x32 pixels tiles, so being able to work at such a small size is essential. Detail and precision are necessary skills when working with with tiles in this way.
