Hi. I'm looking for an illustrator to design an ebook cover for a collection of short stories for women. They've all been rejected by women's magazines, but I think they are too good to just bin. So I thought I'd give them a second lease of life.
I'd like to get this out before Christmas, if possible, so maybe completed by 2nd week December?
There are 12 stories in all, and the plan is to publish in two volumes. The first vol (free) will have an intro and one of the stories, the other (99 cents) will contain the remaining 11. Both will have the same basic cover, with a small change in the text.
The title is 'The rejected stories of Nicki May' by Nicki May.
So, how do I see it?
Basically, as vibrant, multi-coloured, non-uniform, slightly skew-whiff text superimposed over a silhouette of a brainy looking girl (Nicki May) typing on a laptop. I see her as being rather dull brown surrounded by rather dull blue, to bring out the vibrancy of the text.
To my mind text should look painted (rather than stamped) on, if that makes sense. As if Nicki May has gone slightly bonkers with a set of oils after a hard day crafting a most excellent short story for her discerning public. I keep thinking the word 'rejected' should go diagonally down the page like a flight of steps, but that might be OTT.
Or if anyone has a bright idea to make it eye catching, I'm open to suggestions.
I don't have a lot of money for this (my last foray into eboks was a dismal failure) but I'm hoping someone will give it a go.
